Even if you don’t play a guitar, I implore you to visit Music Street in Chequers Court, Huntingdon. The display of glossy, colourful guitars hanging on the wall is an amazing sight! You will also get a warm welcome from Tony, Andy and David, whose passion for guitars and music is a pleasure to see and hear. If you are lucky enough to have some skill at playing, there is a comfortable area with sofas, like a cosy sitting room, at the back of the shop, where you can try the guitars.
Tony leads the team at the shop, which he took over four years ago. All three have technical as well as musical skills and carry out maintenance and repairs and set up the guitars once sold. There are also amps, pedals, and various accessories available to buy. If you visit the online shop you can find a huge choice of instruments and accessories for sale. The web presence has led to the business becoming a 'destination shop' - bringing customers to Huntingdon from Belgium, the Isle of Skye, Cornwall... This is a little gem in our High Street!
If your child is keen to learn to play guitar, the 'Mini Starter Kit' is £200 for the guitar, amp and lead. The same kit but adult sized is £270. At the other end of the scale, (forgive the pun!) Music Street have exotic quitars like a PRS one-off bespoke guitar, which is a Private Stock and which is valued at £9,465.
There are also beautiful acoustic guitars - for beginners the 'Valencia' half-size guitar for 5-8 year olds is £69, three-quarter size at £75 and full size is £85. The team at Music Street will maintain the guitar free for one year after purchase, though you will need to buy any strings if needed.
Plus you can buy online, and you can part-exchange, get finance, and free next day delivery (over £50 spend) on the website. I also recommend that you look at the Music Street YouTube channel. Last, but not least, events are held in the shop, Kiki Dee is lined up already this year and they are in talks with other artists. You need to sign up to the newsletter for notifications of these dates.
