Huntingdon Dining Club helps the NSPCC

I enjoy a fashion show very much, especially a local one where you know the protagonists, but sadly I missed the Huntingdon Dining Club’s catwalk show at The George in Buckden on the 11th of February, due to the overrun of a previous meeting. Luckily, I was still in time for the lunch!

Oh, the lunch! Delicious, beautifully prepared and served, top class food. And here’s the bonus, it was brimming with vegetables and fruit. So tasty, so healthy!  Club members enjoyed a two course meal with coffee for £25. A lovely gift of Lindt chocolate was laid by our places due to Lindt sponsorship of the NSPCC. The group, 38 of us, enjoyed all the lovely attractions of The George Hotel and Brasserie, its elegant surroundings, exceptional service and the Anne Furbank women’s clothes shop which is actually next door, but can be accessed through the hotel’s lobby. And we enjoyed each other’s company. Thank you, the ladies who were on my table at lunch, you were warm, intelligent women with good stories to tell and great humour.
If you missed this show, there is another planned, the Exclusive Autumn Fashion Show on October 7. The fashion show starts at 11 am with a glass of fizz, and you will have the opportunity to shop the looks you’ve seen on the catwalk before the luncheon starts at 1 pm.

Organiser Kate Armstrong told me that there are groups in Ely, Cambridge and Huntingdon. The first one in Ely was established 15 years ago. “As a club, we are motivated to help the NSPCC to continue its good work, delivering services and support to children and young people locally. In the two years that it has been running, Huntingdon Dining Club has raised over £4,000 for the NSPCC – a great result that we are really proud of. Being part of Huntingdon Dining Club is such an enjoyable and civilised way to raise funds for this wonderful charity, and we would like more people to join us.”

Huntingdon Dining Club welcomes men and women of all ages, and members are welcome to bring guests.  Annual membership costs just £30, which is donated directly to the NSPCC. To become a member of the club or volunteer to join the organising team, email Kate at cfm.armstrong@gmail.com or telephone 01954 719745.
