Planning our family Easter holiday has always been exciting for me, although I do feel a lot of pressure working in the travel industry, that I need to get it right! This year we decided to visit Thailand.
We flew to Bangkok, Thailand with Emirates airlines. Emirates really are a great airline and have everything down to a tee, from choosing your films at check in, to cuddly toys and blankets for the children. Arriving in Bangkok was everything I expected it to be, vibrant, bustling streets lined with street food, and temples galore.
A must see is the Grand Palace and Wat Pho, home of the reclining Buddha. Tuk tuks are a great cheap mode of transport and very fun to ride in and will take you wherever you need to go. The floating market of Damnoen Saduak is also a wonderful experience, and one worth doing.
After 3 nights in Bangkok we took a short flight to our next stop at Elephant Hills in Surat Thani.
We had 2 nights here, one at Elephant Hills where we washed, fed and played with the elephants and another night at the river camp where we trekked through the jungle to a bat cave and canoed down the river and spotted monkeys and other wildlife. This truly was an extraordinary experience and one our children will never forget.
After some busy days we decided to have the last week relaxing. We chose the hotel Santhiya Koh Yao Yai which was a 20-minute speed boat ride from Phuket. The luxury villas with pools lined the island and each and every one had a beautiful view of the Andaman Sea. Thailand has so much to offer and the adventures we had are only a small percentage of what visitors can experience.
